Fatal Crash in Levin

At about 1.30am on the 1st of January 2009, a fatal vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 57 just north of the intersection of Arapaepae Road, and Queen Street, Levin.
The collision occurred when a north bound motor vehicle struck a male pedestrian who was walking in the middle of the north bound lane.
Police and ambulance officers worked on the male for 45 minutes, however he died at the scene.
The deceased is a 33year old man from Levin. His name will be released tomorrow after next of kin have been advised.
The 35-year-old female driver of motor vehicle and her passenger were not injured.
Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances to determine the cause.
