Fatal Crash in Bay of Plenty District, 8:00pm 2 Jan

At about 7:25 pm this evening a truck and trailer unit rolled into a ditch in the vicinity of Settlers and Birch Roads, Reporoa.

The vehicle is a tanker type carrier, believed to be laden with whey.

The truck is in such a position, it had been difficult to establish the condition of the trapped driver, who has now been confirmed deceased.

Emergency services are at the scene and are awaiting the arrival of heavy lifting equipment in order to gain access and remove the driver.

The highway is partially blocked at this location, but this may change to a full closure. No more information is available at this time.
