Drowning in Auckland City District, 8:30pm 3 Jan 2009

Drowning Mototapu Is.
At about midday on 3 January 2009, a 51 year old Australian resident, Leonard MURU-PAENGA drowned after having fallen from a boat near Mototapu Is.
Mr MURU-PAENGA had returned to NZ for a 50th birthday celebration and was boating with a friend when the incident occurred.
Next of Kin have been advised of the tragedy and relatives are believed to be travelling to Auckland.
Police are currently investigating the matter.
