New Zealand Police Alert 12:00am

A hazardous chemical heavy truck and trailer has rolled on State Highway 1 approximately 2 kilometres west of Tirau.

No injury has been sustained but the Fire Department are in attendance.

As a result of the incident, part of State Highway 1 has been closed and diversions put in place.

The closure is expected to remain in force until about 11a.m. this morning.

The alternative route for motorists north from Tirau is via State Highway 27 through to State 29 and back onto State 1.

South bound traffic uses the same route.

The route is sign posted for motorists.
