Fatal Crash in Northland District, 12:40pm 7 Jan

A 53 year old man was killed today when the Porsche 911 Turbo he was a passenger in left the road and landed upside down down a bank at about 12.40pm.

The crash occurred on Matauri Bay Road near Kaeo.

The male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution.

There were no witnesses to the crash itself although police have spoken to other motorists who saw the vehicle being driven shortly before the crash.

Next of kin of the dead man have been located however some overseas family members have yet to be notified and the man's name will not be released until this has occurred.

Serious crash investigators based at Whangarei are investigating the cause of the crash.
