Body in Heathcore River in Canterbury District

Police are not treating the death of the local 44 year old man as suspicious and no one else is being sought in connection with his death.

'Following the post mortem on Friday night and enquiries completed the unexplained issues that surrounded the circumstances of the body of Richard John DOYLE being found in the Heathcote River on 09.01.09 have largely been answered,' said Detective Senior Sergeant John RAE, 'The enquiry will now be referred to the Coroner for his attention.'

The Police acknowledged the report of the body when it was seen in the river and others (including an off-duty Police Constable) who reported seeing remote items that turned out to be relevant to the investigation as being critical to a swift resolution of this case.
