Shark sighting in Southern District, 10:00am

Approximately 20 minutes ago a report was received in relation to a very large shark cruising the Karitane beach (30 kms north of Dunedin) and inlet.

This is a beach which is popular with surfers.

Two surfers have reported to the local Karitane Store that they have been chased out of the sea by this shark.

The species of shark is not known.
