Arrests in Matamata sexual attack

Three men will appear in the Hamilton District Court today facing charges relating to a sexual attack on a woman in Matamata on Friday night.

Detective Sergeant Rod Carpinter of the Matamata-Piako CIB said three men were arrested following the rape of a 20-year-old woman about midnight.

"At this stage we would like to acknowledge the assistance of three women who went to the aid of the victim during the assault," said Mr Carpinter.

"The men were arrested near Matamata Saturday afternoon and will be appearing in court today facing a variety of serious sexual assault charges."
