The 66 year old Wellington man Howard EASTMENT and a female associate who had been reported as overdue after a gold prospecting trip into the Rocky River area in Bainham, Collingwood, Golden Bay, have been located
The Nelson Rescue helicopter located the pair at their campsite on the Rocky River at about 2.15pm.
Both were fit and well, and were intending to walk out today.
The whole search mounted by the New Zealand Police and volunteers from Golden Bay Search and rescue could have been avoided if Mr. EASTMENT had informed some one of his intentions.
The Public are reminded of the need to give some responsible person their plans and intentions when going into the bush or other remote location. And to give an update should these change.
The volunteers all gave up their time and in some cases a days work to mount this search.
