Police pursuit in Central District, 5:00am

Police have arrested a 25yr old male after a lengthy Police pursuit from Masterton to Pahiatua.

Police had attempted to stop the suspected drunk driver in Masterton township - when he failed to stop for Police and drove North along state highway 2 at speeds up of to 160km/h.

The pursuit lasted 30 mins and a distance of approximately 60 kilometres - and only ended when Police used road spikes to disable the offender's vehicle.

A 25yr old male has been arrested and will be facing numerous driving charges in the Masterton District Court.
