16 year old arrested following early morning stabbing in Kaikoura

At about 1:30am on Sunday the 25th of January 2009, an altercation has taken place in Beach Road, Kaikoura where a 22 year old Kaikoura man and a 22 year old woman received stab wounds.

Police have arrested a 16 year old Christchurch youth in relation to the incident, and is to face charges of Wounding with intent to cause GBH.

It is alleged an earlier altercation has taken place involving the youth inside Kaikoura's Strawberry Tree Bar, where he has been assaulted, and he has returned to the area with a knife.

Constable Dean SCHRODER of the Kaikoura Police said 'A number of witnesses are being spoken to regarding the incident, and further charges may result.'

The injuried parties were treated at hospital for their wounds and released.
