Helicopter Crash in Waikato District, 11:00am

At about 9:30 am this morning in the vicinity of the Waitakaruru Township a helicopter crash landed in a heavily mangroved area.

The pilot and one passenger suffered minor injuries.

The pilot made contact via mobile phone with the police, but was not certain of his exact location.

Access to the location of the injured pair was by helicopter and was dispatched to winch them out.
