MANUKAU CITY

Just before 4:00pm this afternoon police responded to an aggravated robbery at the dairy in Tiraumea Drive in Pakuranga.

A young male had entered the shop and presented a silver pistol at the proprietor.

It is not known if anything was taken but the offender fled the scene on a push bike.

A short time later he was spotted by a police patrol, who gave chase on foot.

The offender was caught by the constable.

The offender turned on the constable who had caught him, during the ensuing struggle the constable received several facial injuries and suffered a broken hand.

The constable was able to prevent the offenders escape long enough to allow a dog patrol to arrive and track down the offender a short time later.

The shopkeeper was not injured during the robbery.
