Fire in Tasman District, 5:00pm

At 4.45pm on the 3 February 2009 Fire and Police were advised of a large fire on the hill side at Dodson Valley near Nelson.

Fire have 15 appliances and 4 helicopters in attendance fighting the fire.

Police have cordoned off Bay View Road and Dobson Valley Road.

A number of resident have moved from their houses as the fire is threatening the area at top Bay View Road.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area until the fire is under control.
