Drowning Parkers Cove, Nelson

A 50 year old local Nelson woman has died today in an apparent drowning at Parkers Cove, Tahunanui, Nelson.
At about 6.50 pm today police and other emergency services were advised that a woman had been swept away in the current of the blind channel.
A search was mounted and the body of the woman was located by the surf rescue boat crew some distance off shore near Monaco about 40 minutes later.
The death has been reported to the coroner.
