Come and play the numbers in Kaipara District Council’s Lucky Numbers Saloon at Field Days Site 245. There will be no excuse for not finding the Council’s site and even less chance of getting lost once you are there.

This year Kaipara District Council is adopting the theme “RAPID Number?...RAPID Response!” to highlight the importance of the blue numbers which identify rural properties throughout the District. So not only will Site 245 be identified by a large blue RAPID (Rural Address Property Identification) -type number but a post of numbered pointer signs will direct visitors to the various activities and displays inside.

The Lucky Numbers Saloon is a fun drawcard and features two free petanque-type games where punters try to land a ball on number 245. Those who are successful will go into a daily draw for $50.00 cash and there will also be spot prizes for landing on other numbers.

In a more serious vein and to underline the fact that a RAPID Number on your gate could save a life, visitors will be confronted by a dummy pinned under an overturned quad bike as an example of when finding a rural address quickly could be critical.

The display will include an opportunity to arrange numbers for people who have not yet received the new blue ones or need to change information on them.

Councillors and staff will be on hand to discuss all aspects of the Council’s operation and are keen to hear people’s views about this and also on how they want their District managed in the future.

Dargaville Library is again a popular inclusion and is enticing budding Kaipara authors to write a one page story around the theme, “25 years and a crystal ball - the future”. There are separate categories for writers 17 and under and 18 and over with prizes of a $50.00 book voucher from Wheelers plus a $20.00 library voucher up for grabs.

The library will again be offering the chance to purchase some great pre-loved reading material for a gold coin donation.

“So come to site number 245 and chill out with a glass of cool water, pop the littlies in our kiddies playground and check out the displays or have a bit of fun” Mayor Neil Tiller invites. “We are constantly looking for ways to communicate and work together with our residents and ratepayers and the Field Days offer a great chance to do this.”
