Operation 4 & Rotary

Operation 4 & Rotary was conducted by Christchurch Police over the weekend of 21/22 February 2009, to coincide with the 4 & Rotary South Island Champs, held at Westpac Stadium.
 

70 Police staff as well as Court and NZ Transport Agency staff were involved in a combined operation.

While many hundreds of 'boy racers' cruised the 4 Avenues circuit all night Friday and Saturday nights, overall their behaviour was of an acceptable standard.
 

There were no major driving incidents and no large gatherings of boy racers conducting illegal activity.

Nonetheless, over 300 Infringements and Offence notices were issued, 67 vehicles were impounded  or written off the road for unpaid fines or for being illegally modified, and there were 17 arrests for a variety of minor offences.
