Fatal crash in Canterbury

Police attended a fatal crash on the South side of the Hurunui River Bridge, State Highway 7, North Canterbury on Saturday 21 February 2009 at about 6.55pm.
Initial investigations show the deceased was driving south on State Highway 7 when he crossed the Hurunui River Bridge. The Nissan Vanette crossed the centre line hitting an oncoming Toyota Landcruiser head on at the southern end of the bridge.
The driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
The deceased is; Jamie Melville WEDLAKE Aged 18 years of Christchurch.
Police and the Serious Crash team will be carrying out a full investigation.
