Nominate our local sports heroes NOW!

Sportsperson of the Year award nominations are now open.

It is time to celebrate our local athlete’s success over the past year with the 10th Annual Infracon Tararua Sportsperson of the Year Awards. The Awards will be held in Dannevirke this year at the Town Hall on Friday May 8.

There are six categories available for nominations; Junior sportsperson of the year, Team of the year, Coach of the year, Official of the year, Administrator/Volunteer of the year and Sportsperson of the year. All individual nominees are also eligible for the “People’s choice personality of the year” award, which is decided by public vote.

Sport Tararua District Coordinator Pip Hubbard is encouraging everyone to put forward nominations. “There are so many talented athletes in the Tararua District who fit into the nomination categories,” says Pip. “If your team, coach, volunteer or a sportsperson you know has done well in the past 12 months, then nominate them for the awards this year,” she encourages.

The Tararua Awards are a great way to recognise the time and commitment locals have given sport in our region.

Nomination forms will be available from all Tararua District Council offices and Sport Tararua from Monday 23 February. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the Sport Tararua website on www.sporttararua.org.nz

The closing date for nominations is 31 March 2009.
