Would you like to know how to include people with disabilities into your activities more effectively? Then get along to a free No Exceptions Training session and find out just how easy this can be!

No Exceptions Training sessions are designed to provide teachers, coaches, and community leaders with comprehensive and direct practical support for including people with disabilities in regular sport and physical activity programmes. The workshops deliberately use a practical approach and the promotion of positive attitudes towards disability and sport and physical activity is seen as a main priority.

People who have previously participated in the workshops said they realised how easy it was to cater for people with disabilities just by slightly modifying or adapting an activity to suit the person, and that they enjoyed the practical component of the workshops. They left with ideas for activities and more open to the possibility of including people with disabilities.

Other feedback from participants includes having increased confidence in dealing with people with different abilities, and gaining knowledge and information that they can use directly or pass on to other members of their organisation.

The No Exceptions Training is fun, and best of all it’s free and is being run in Levin on Thursday March 12. The session is being held at the Horowhenua Events Centre, and is open for anyone to attend. To register for the session, simply contact Sport Horowhenua on (06) 367 0083 or email

Sport Horowhenua are also running other training sessions in Levin to help community groups in key operational areas. While these sessions are targeted towards sporting groups such as clubs and Regional Sports Organisations, they may also be useful for schools and other community organisations.

Funding and Sponsorship – Thursday March 26

The No Exception Training session is free to attend. The Funding and Sponsorship session is $10 per person (which includes bringing another person from your organisation free). Registrations are essential for all sessions.
