Police have attended a stricken pleasure craft in the Waitemata Harbour. The vessel appears to have struck a rock near Rangitoto Island. Whilst attempts were being made to ascertain the extent of damage and effect immediate repairs, a persons clothing appears to have become entangled in the driveshaft, trapping the person.
At the time of the incident sea water was leaking into the engine bay. As a result of the incident one person has died.
Police are currently attempting to locate next of kin. The deceased has been taken to the Auckland Hospital and the matter will now be reported to the Coroner.
