Firearms incident in Southern District, 3:00am 13 Mar 2009

DUNEDIN

At about 10.45pm on Thursday 12th March a Council rubbish collector was emptying rubbish bins at Bayfield Park when he was shot in the arm by either a air rifle or pistol.

He received graze to his right arm.

He was treated at the scene by St John Ambulance.

A white 4 door car, possibly an older style Toyota was seen in the area and left soon after the shooting.

There were 2 males and a female in the vehicle.

Dunedin police would like to hear from anybody who may have been in the area at the time or has any information about the vehicle or occupants.

They are asked to contact Dunedin central police station.
