Fatal Crash - Car v Power-pole in Bay of Plenty District, 4:00am 13 Mar 2009

Police are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred at about 1.40 am Friday morning, on Vaughan Road, Rotorua.

A Nissan Pulsar car was travelling North on Vaughan Road when it lost control and collided into a power-pole.

The power pole and its live cables hampered emergency service workers in their attempt to rescue the three male occupants trapped in the vehicle.

The front seat passenger, a 22 year old male died at the scene.

Both the driver and the rear seat passenger were taken to Rotorua hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.
