Injured Tourist on Fox Galcier in Tasman District, 4:00pm 18 Mar 2009

A European tourist, aged in his mid-20's, was on a guided ice climbing tour when he was caught by a falling rock and pinned to the ice.

He was freed by Glacer Guides together with medical staff and flown to Greymouth Hospital.

He received serious injuries to his lower body.
