Police officer injured in disorder incident in Whangarei
A Whangarei Police Sergeant was hospitalised after he was struck by a rock, thrown by a third party, as he was assisting in the arrest of two males fighting outside a Party on Otaika Road, Raumanga, Whangarei.
Additional Police staff were called to the scene as onlookers started throwing rocks and bottles at the arresting Officers. Sixteen Police staff were required to control the disorder and six people face charges for fighting and obstruction.
The Police Sergeant was treated for concussion and received several stitches to his head. He has subsequently been discharged from hospital.
