TAI TAPU

This morning a purple late model Ford Falcon XR6 coloured purple and with the registered number CEF988 was stolen from a farm property in the Tai Tapu area south of Christchurch.

The owner's house had been burgled and the keys for the car taken.

It has a full tank of Petrol and a range of some 600 kilometres.

Though the Police had road checks in place in that vicinity Police believe that the car managed to avoid the road blocks and has left the area.

'I believe the car has been stolen by William STEWART, the man we have been looking for now for some weeks, ' said Detective Senior Sergeant John RAE, 'And it could be anywhere in Canterbury by now.

We would like anyone who sees this car or STEWART to contact the Police immediately.'

STEWART has previously frequented the area between Christchurch and Darfield and back to Temuka and Lake Tekapo.

STEWART should not be approached by anyone who finds him but the Police are encouraging early notification to them.
