Hamilton City Council are seeking the owners of two horses handed over to Council's City Safe team after Police found them found wandering in a main Hamilton intersection early this morning. The horses are now being safely held in Council's animal holding facility until their owners can be located.

Both horses are bay (dark brown) coloured standard bred geldings. The horses have a number of distinguishing features:

One has a distinguishing white star on the forehead and white stripe on the nose, and white sock on the front left foot
The other gelding is bay in colour and has black legs
City Safe manager Elton Parata said the horses were found by Police at the intersection of Bankwood and Clarkin Roads and seemed unperturbed about their strange surroundings.

"These horses may have escaped from grazing or horse transport so we're urging anyone who owns a horse, has been recently transporting horses or grazes horses on their property to please check their paddocks and let Council know if they think these animals could be theirs or belong to someone they know.

"The owners or any members of the public with information about the owners can contact Council's City Safe team directly on 021 816 929.

"These are both very friendly and well cared for animals and we are keen to see them happily reunited with their owners as soon as possible."
