Cows destroyed in Waikato

Seven cows were destroyed by Police near the Gordonton Village on Gordonton Road, north Waikato, at about 2am on Wednesday the 1st of April 2009.

The cattle which numbered 20 to 30 escaped from a nearby farm and had walked in a southerly direction.

Seven of group were struck by a 4 x 4 travelling north, and a truck and trailor unit travelling south.

The 4 x 4 suffered extensive frontal damage while the truck had damage to both headlights meaning it could not continue on its way. Both drivers were uninjured.
