Up to four Air Force Iroquois together with flight crews and maintenance personnel will be taking part in night flying exercises over the coming weeks.

Exercise Pekapeka – the Maori name for a native New Zealand bat - will be held from 2-9 April and 4-8 May.

Using Night Vision Goggles (NVG) the crew will fly a number of missions each night.

The Exercise is designed to train the aircrew in NVG operations and maintenance personnel in aircraft maintenance at night.

From 2-9 April aircraft will be operating out of RNZAF Base Ohakea and around Waiouru. The second phase will see the crews conducting missions in the lower North Island from 4-8 May.
