WELLINGTON CITY

Police are appealing for witnesses and any information concerning an Aggravated Robbery that occurred between 2am and 2:30am on Saturday 4th April 2009 outside Wellington Train Station on Bunny Street, Wellington.

Detective Sergeant Damian MURPHY of Wellington police said 'The 22 year old victim was waiting outside the Wellington Train Station for early morning trains to begin, when he was approached by two Maori or Polynesian male offenders'.

'One offender demanded money and then punched the victim without warning. This was a completely unprovoked attack'.

'The victim was held in a headlock while his pockets and backpack were rummaged through. The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises and a cellphone belonging to the victim was stolen during the assault'.
The offenders are described as;

Male 1. Maori or Polynesian, just under 6 feet tall, 18 to 25 years old, heavy build but not fat. Wearing a light coloured beanie, a light coloured top and long dark pants.

Male 2. Maori male. 18 to 25 years old, a slighter build than the first male, wearing a dark colored hooded top.
Detective Sergeant MURPHY said 'There were a number of taxi drivers and other people in the area at the time, who would have seen what happened.
