Police are advising motorists to take care on State Highway 45 - the road between Hawera and Opunake.
A recent hail storm has left ice on the road and strong winds are making driving conditions difficult.
Police are reminding all motorists to take care on the roads, be mindful of their following distances - and to drive to the conditions this holiday weekend.
