Accident in Lower Hutt in Wellington District, 5:00pm 11 Apr 2009

At about 4.55pm this afternoon emergency services were called to a two car accident on Waddington Drive in Naenae, Lower Hutt.

One of the cars involved in the accident had been reported as stolen on the 1st April. The male driver of the stolen car was trapped in the car and had to be cut free by the Fire Service. This driver and the driver of the other car have been taken to Hutt Hospital with moderate to serious injuries. These are are not believed to be life threatening.

There was only one occupant in each car.

The Serious Crash Unit is at the scene and will determine the cause of the accident. The driver of the stolen car has yet to be interviewed by police. This will happen once he has been treated at hospital.
