An established Wellingtonian with tourism business management experience is taking the helm at the Wellington i-SITE Visitor Centre this week.

Lisa Noedl (pronounced Noel) joined the Positively Wellington Tourism team today from the Wellesley Group, where she has been Group General Manager since 2005.

With eight years experience in tourism and hospitality, Lisa brings fantastic industry knowledge to the i-SITE, as well as proven management skills.

Positively Wellington Tourism Chief Executive David Perks says Lisa’s hotel experience, passion for Wellington and strong management will be a huge asset to the team.

The Wellington i-SITE, which is part of the official national visitor information network, has been without a manager since January.

“While this presented a challenge as we went into a busy summer, we didn’t want to rush a decision. The i-SITE is a vital part of both our organisation and the Wellington experience and it’s been well worth taking the time to find the right person for the job,” Mr Perks says.

The i-SITE team more than met the challenge of managing another busy summer in the capital. Numbers through the door were comparable with last year, but record transactions saw counter sales in the year to February up 4.5% on the previous year.

“There was an economic recession beginning to unfold, but the team met the task head on with fantastic results. They also had plenty of activity beyond the i-SITE door going on, with Tourism New Zealand’s What Do You Say UK? mobile studio in town for four days and double the number of cruise ships in port compared to the previous season,” Mr Perks says.

“As we now head in to the quieter season, it’s timely to welcome Lisa on board and we’re really excited to see how this complete team can further enhance our visitors’ experience in the capital.”
