Truck incident closes West Coast road

Police and roading contractors are in attendance at an incident involving a truck on the Otira Highway (State Highway 73), approximately 5kms East of Kumara, Westland District.
The truck and trailer unit came off the road, reported as being due to losing power, and came to rest whilst still partially blocking the road. Due to the potential risks to other motorists, the road has been completely blocked off.
As such there are major delays and motorists are advised take the Lake Brunner Road at Jacksons, through to Greymouth.
There were no reported injuries as a result of this crash.
It is not yet known when the road will be clear.
