Rich Hill Stud have set outstanding sire Pentire’s fee at $27,500+gst for the 2009 breeding season.

Pentire, who was champion New Zealand sire by AEI in 2005/06, has enjoyed another stellar season on the racetrack and in the sale ring. He currently sits third on the NZ sires’ premiership behind Volksraad and Scenic and he is the third NZ based sire on the Australian sires’ premiership behind Zabeel and O’Reilly.

Pentire has sired two new group 1 winners in 2009, the brilliant galloper Mufhasa and recent Derby winner Markus Maximus. His yearlings sold up to $360,000 at this year’s Karaka sales and his Australasian seasonal progeny earnings are currently in excess of NZ$4.1million dollars.

Pentire will be joined at Rich Hill next season by champion English 2YO and classic winner Sir Percy, who will stand his first Southern Hemisphere season at $15,000+gst. The recent success of New Zealand bred horses in Australian middle distance and classic races again emphases how important Pentire and Sir Percy are for the future of the New Zealand breeding industry.

Also in the Rich Hill Stud line up will be the brilliant group 1 performed sprinter Any Suggestion who will stand at $6,500+gst.

Any Suggestion was syndicated last season amongst many of New Zealand’s leading breeders and he received an exceptional first book of 131 mares.

Rich Hill studmaster John Thompson cannot recall a New Zealand stallion standing at $6,500 receiving such a book of quality and quantity. “We are extremely excited about the arrival next spring of the first foals of this magnificent looking son of Lion Hunter. “

Proven Group 1 sire Bahhare who will stand at $4,000+gst will complete the Rich Hill roster.

Bahhare will again have 2YO’s next season after a break from shuttling duties. His yearlings last year sold up at $60,000 and have ended back in the stables of many leading trainers. His progeny have continued to be competitive throughout Australasia and he represents incredible value for a horse who has sired such a wide range of Group 1 performers.
