Firearms Incident in Wellington District, 9:15am

This morning Police were alerted to a male from the Kapiti Coast area with concerns about his safety.

He was located in his vehicle on Paekakariki Hill Rd. When Police officers approached him he pointed an object in their direction.

The male then drove off and Police engaged into a pursuit travelling south over Paekakariki Hill Rd.

The vehicle was stopped a short time later and a 59 year old male was apprehended and taken into custody.

An imitation firearm was located at the scene.

Police specialist squads and ambulance were deployed.

The road is closed while police clear the scene.
