WEST COAST

Due to the heavy rain on the West Coast State Highway 6 near Fourteen Mile Creek is closed due to flooding and rock slips.
State Highway 6 is the main road between Greymouth and Westport. There is no alternate route available in the same area. Motorists would have to travel the inland route if they need to communite between the 2 towns.
Motorists are urged not to travel on the road overnight,or other areas on the coast as there is heavy rain, swollen rivers, rock slips, with the possibility of further slips and road blocks.
Greymouth town is also experiencing minor flooding which may increase with the continuing rain.
Radio media for the coast, can you do regular broadcasts advising motorists.
Thats all for now. I will update the web when further information becomes available.
Thanks.
