CANTERBURY

A locomotive travelling between Christchurch and Darfield has leaked between 300 and 400 litres of diesel.
Consequently, there may be diesel on the roadway at these level crossings, making the road surface slippery.
Ecan, local authorities and the New Zealand Transport Authority are checking the 17 level railway crossings between Christchurch and Darfield.
