Nutricia’s response to the New Zealand Food Standards Authority (NZFSA) raises serious unanswered questions.

If this product has been sold here since January with an unapproved ingredient, does the NZFSA really know what is in infant formula sold in New Zealand? And have all the ingredients been approved?

Was it only through a couple of parents’ complaints, and a competitor, that this came to light? Are there no systems in place for independent routine tests that check infant formula for compliance or is this just left to the companies themselves?

Can the NZFSA assure the public of New Zealand that ALL infant formulas for sale contain approved ingredients? The Infant Feeding Association of New Zealand (IFANZ) calls on the NZFSA to make a full safety assessment of all infant formulas in New Zealand to reassure parents who may be switching to another brand that unknown additives aren’t lurking in them as well!
