Roads and parking buildings will be closed in central Napier on Wednesday for the funeral of Senior Constable Len Snee.

The funeral will be held at the Napier Municipal Theatre at 1pm on Wednesday.

There will be no parking along Tennyson St from 6am on Wednesday. The city council two-storey parking building next to the Municipal Theatre will also be closed.

From 11am, Tennyson St will be closed from Clive Square through to Hastings St. There will be no access onto Tennyson St from Dalton St or Cathedral Lane.

Parking around the central city will be at a premium, so police are advising people who plan to attend the funeral to park in the public car parks on Marine Parade.

Seating inside the Municipal Theatre will be limited. The lower area of the theatre is reserved for police staff, family and VIPs. The upper gallery will seat Len's close friends, rugby associates and members of the public.

Police are urging anyone who wishes to attend the funeral to be mindful of seating restrictions and to let family and close friends have preference.

The service will be relayed via TV screens into three foyer areas in the outer theatre. Members of the public are welcome to view the service from there.

The service will also be broadcast outside for the public on speakers.
