Update Christchurch Death:

Dectective Inspector Williams advises that the post mortem on the male found in the Heathcote River was conducted at 4.30pm today.

This has revealed the male has drowned. Detective Inspector Williams is satisfied that the death is not suspicious.

The police are still interesting in any sightings of the male described earlier at around 2.00am on Saturday 16th May 2009.

The matter will be referred to the cororner

The man's name will be released later in the evening when relatives have been advised.

Detective Inspector Williams is unavailable for any further comment including voice recordings.
