Vehicle crash - Truck and trailer unit in Canterbury District, 6:00pm 18 May

Cattle transport truck and trailer uint was negiotating the roundabout, upon exiting the roundabout the trailer unit has tipped over.

Approximately 30 cattle beast in trailer.

Police with the assistance of fire, volunteers, and local veterinarians have extracted the cattle from the trailer unit taken them to a nearby paddock.

Most of the cattle appear to be in good health but are currently being assessed by the veterinarians. To date one cattle beast is deceased.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

As a result of the incident there was huge delays experienced by traffic and people wanting to get to the airport.
