Car v pole fatal crash, Franklin District in Counties Manukau District, 9:00pm 19 May

At about 8.17pm police were called to the scene of a single vehicle fatal crash on Linwood Road, Karaka, Franklin District.

One person is dead after the Holden Station-wagon he was a passenger in, has left the road and collided into a power pole.

The driver and a second passenger were treated for minor injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance and diversions are in place.

The road is likely to be closed until 3 a.m whilst the power company carry out repairs to the cables and transformer box damaged by the crash.
