PALMERSTON NORTH

Parsons Avenue Kindergarten started their iMove promotion on Tuesday when 33 children and their parents met at Levin’s Jubilee Park at 8.30am to walk together to kindergarten. Each child donned their iMove vests and showed their parents the road crossing skills they have been working on with Police Education Officer, Jacqui Moynihan.

“It was excellent to see so many children and their parents join us for the first of many organised iMove walks and all looking so smart in their high visibility vests” says Jacqueline Rose, iMove Coordinator.

Each child that walks with their parent receives a stamp on their iMove card which, when completed, goes into the draw for a range of prizes. Other walks will be done throughout the weeks to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in active transport activities.

On Monday May 25, Parsons Avenue Kindergarten will join Punahau Early Childhood Centre and Betty Montford Kindergarten to all walk from their centres to the Levin Fire Station where they will receive a safety talk from both the fire brigade and police force at 10.30am. It will be an opportunity for the children to reinforce the skills they have been taught on how to be safe pedestrians.

Keep an eye out for these young people on the roads and feel free to join them for a stroll in the fresh air!
