Youth Arrested For Assaulting 82 Year Old Woman

Waitakere Police have arrested an unemployed male as a result of a lengthy investigation into an assault on an 82 year old woman.

The elderly victim was assaulted during a burglary in her Sturm Avenue Massey home at about 4.00am on 3 May 2009.

Yesterday a 16 year old youth was arrested by the Waitakere CIB and charged with aggravated assault and burglary.

The youth was due to appear in Waitakere Youth Court today on further charges including two of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, a second burglary in Massey, and theft from a dwelling in Rotorua.

The 82 year old woman has recovered well from her ordeal, and has been receiving support from her family and friends.
