Attempted robbery in Tasman District, 5:00am 23 May

At about 6:00pm this evening there was an attempted robbery at the Main Street Fish n Chips shop situated at 60 Main Street, Blenheim. Police were called to the shop following reports of a Male entering the premise brandishing a pistol (possibly an air pistol) and demanding cash from the till.

The offender has forced his way to the till area where he has tried unsuccessfully to remove cash. After threatening staff the male has left the shop on foot without anything and headed East on Main Street then onto Dunbeath Street.

Blenheim Police are interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen this male around the vicinity at this time.

The male has been described as being a pale skinned Caucasian, between 18 - 25 years old, bushy eye brows, pimply face, black/brown hair and wearing a light coloured hoody and dark trousers.
