CANTERBURY

Police were called to a farm near Mayfield, Mid-South Canterbury at 1.00 a.m. this morning after a farmer disturbed an intruder attempting to steal a 4 wheel quad motor bike.
Police attended and William Alexander STEWART, 47years, was located a short distance away. He was still in possession of the stolen Nissan Navara registered number OTIRA.
He was arrested and will be appearing in the Christchurch District Court this morning.
At this stage Mr STEWART has been arrested on the prison recall warrant issued in October last year, however a number of charges will be laid in due course.
Police found no firearms in the stolen 4 wheel drive. The vehicle has been towed to Ashburton Police Station for a closer examination.
