Bus Driver Robbery in Wellington

WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are investigating the robbery of a 'Go Wellington' bus driver that occurred on Friday 5 June 2009, at Lyall Bay, Wellington.

At approximately 8:30pm the driver was parked at the bus turn-around-point situated on the corner of Queens Drive and Hungerford Road. The offender boarded the bus, presented a screwdriver and demanded money from the driver however his demands were refused.

The offender got off the bus and was last seen running away on Queens Drive, towards Lyall Bay.

The offender is described as a male, medium build, 18 - 23 years of age, approximately 5ft 8' in height and spoke with a kiwi accent. He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark trousers, large lense sunglasses and his face was covered with a dark coloured bandana.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this robbery or seen any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area at the time.

The driver was uninjured.
