Assault Enquiries Continue in Christchurch
Detective Senior Sergeant David HARVEY says that the investigation continues into the serious assault of a 19 year old man on the Shirley Road outside Shirley Primary School at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday evening the 13 June 2009.
HARVEY says that the victim's condition has improved. He is to be transferred from ICU to a Ward.
The investigation team hope to speak to the victim when he is available.
Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY says that the scene examination and area canvas is completed.
HARVEY says that the identity of the four youths last seen walking in an easterly direction towards Emmett Street, and Marshlands Road from the victim is still not known. He asks 'that anyone who knows the identity of these persons should to come forward'.
Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY has repeated a call for a male and female who came to the assistance of the victim moments after the incident to come forward. To date they have not approached the Police. He says 'we would like to speak to these persons and thank them for the assistance they have given to the victim.'
Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY asks that any witnesses who may have seen the incident or who have been in Shirley Road at the time to please contact the Papanui Police.
