WELLINGTON CITY

Police are appealing for witnesses and any information concerning an Indecent Assault that occurred in Courtenay Place, Wellington, at around 3:20am on Sunday 14th June 2009.

Detective Constable Trevor COLLETT of Wellington police said 'The 17 year old female victim was standing near the bus terminus on Courtenay Place and when a white van pulled up beside her'
The white van was full of young males and people may remember seeing it because they were shouting out and being unruly.
'One male offender got out of the van and approached the victim who was on her way to meet her boyfriend'.
'The male grabbed the victim and indecently assaulted her before she managed to break free. The victim locked herself in a public toilet cubicle on the other side of Courtenay Place from The Establishment and waited until the offender left'.
The victim was not injured during the assault but she was shaken and traumatized'.
The offender is described as;
„X 18 to 25 years old
„X Caucasian
„X Blonde hair - medium length (looked would be curly if grown long)
„X 5 foot 9 inches tall or slightly taller
„X Quite big eyebrows (dark)
„X Clean shaven
„X Quite muscular but not really big
„X Loose clothing
„X Shirt: Long sleeved (rolled to elbows)
Buttons up the front
Chequered and striped (shades of blue & some white)
„X Dark coloured pants (possibly jeans)
„X New Zealand accent
„X Smelled of alcohol & unstable on his feet
The offender's vehicle is described as;
„X White van (full of boys)
„X Quite old.
„X Not in very good condition.
„X Black line down the whole length of the side (not painted on)
„X Paint not shiny
Detective Constable COLLETT said 'There were a number of taxi driver's and other people socializing in the area at the time, who may have seen what happened.
